Weekly Email

Hey everyone,

Sorry it's been almost a month since I've sent an email to ya. But the last few weeks have been so busy and at the same time so amazing!!

We've been blessed with a couple of baptisms. We baptized Christine, jamesetta, and Emmanuel. Then last week we finally were able to baptize the Smith family!! It was a miracle to say the least. In Liberia the people love to follow the traditional practices of marriage. So before someone can be married legally, they first need to be married traditionally. So Martha Smith called and told her family and said that she wanted to be married to Melvin but they wouldn't let her if they didn't do the traditional marriage first. And it seems like an easy thing to do but traditional marriages are no small thingooo, the groom has to pay the family tons of money and buy them all kinds of stuff and it's very expensive. Brother Melvin was not in a position to do that so we were praying a miracle would be performed!! Thankfully Heavenly Father answers prayers. Our Bishop called the family and explained the reason for the legal marriage. They agreed and the marriage took place and then they were baptized right after it was sweet!!

Also, I'm grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost.  We were able to follow promptings this week and it led to many spiritual experiences and us being able to use the priesthood to bless the lives of others. I know that priesthood blessings work and that when we follow the guidance of the spirit the Lord will ALWAYS use it to do His work.

Last week was the last week of the transfer and we got news that I'm staying in Old Road with Elder Tshionyi!! I'm excited for that because we have some awesome people who are really progressing.

I hope everyone is doing well. I love you guys and miss ya

Elder Hiatt
