Baptisms And Snails

Image
Hey everyone,     We had a pretty darn good week here in Greenville!! We had a baptism, and ate some interesting food haha!     We were blessed to baptize 5 people on Saturday!! It was so awesome and then me and my companion were able to confirm them as members of the Church on Sunday!! Pretty neat experience! These kids are all adorable but they're so dang smart and they understand the gospel so well!! I love being able to baptize members' children. I know that through this gospel their families and our families can be together forever!!!      On Sunday we had a pretty interesting day haha!! We have a member who brings us lunch every Sunday so we opened it up to eat and saw a bunch of snails inside!!!! They call them "Kiss Me" haha! They're actually pretty tasty so if you ever come to Liberia make sure you try the "Kiss me fresh from the swamp" Hahaha!!     Also one of the people we are teaching found a pangolin!! It was the weirdest little ...

First Week In Greenville

Hey guys,     Well this week was good! We taught some really solid lessons and we are getting people prepared for baptism this coming Saturday so not much to complain about this week haha!     It's funny,  the mission teaches you many life lessons and I'll forever be grateful for the things I'm learning in Liberia. I've come to understand that we should never judge a book by its cover. When I got to Greenville I said "this place sucks, these next few transfers are going to stink."  But after only one week I love this place and the people!! So remember before judging someone or something give it some time!! I promise it will make you happier and make the whole situation a positive experience.      I've heard that covid is going crazy in the states! So I pray that you will all stay healthy and strong. I hope you guys are doing awesome! I'd love to hear from you guys so don't be afraid to send a little email!! Love ya     Elder Hiatt ...

Transferred Midweek?!

Hey everyone,     My week got really crazy right after I sent last week's email!!     The Aps and President called me and informed me that I would be getting transferred to a place called Greenville. I'll tell you a little about Greenville, it's the BUSH!      So I got picked up Wednesday and headed to the mission home where I spent a couple of nights. I loved the mission home we call it the American embassy haha! President allowed us to watch a few movies and sister Price made us navajo tacos and ice cream and it tasted so good!!! We left Friday morning at 3 AM, it was me, my new companion Elder Jensen, Morris, and his buddy we call the mechanic!! Morris is such a BEAST he's been in the Liberian military and the secret service for the president. He is also one of the funniest people I have ever met. We had so much fun on our 7 hour ride!! The only problem we had were the roads, the road from Monrovia clear down to greenville is TERRIBLE. We drove thro...

Weekly Letter

Hey everyone!     I hope you all had a great Christmas and a happy new year!! Holidays are tough while you're on a mission but they're also great at the same time. Missions are just crazy haha!     For Christmas we visited members and ate SO MUCH RICE!! The people here can cook and I really do love the food so it was awesome. For new years we went and taught lessons so that day was just like any other day!!      In my personal study I've started going through the New Testament and I love it so much!! Reading all the stories of Christ and the amazing person he was and still is has strengthened my testimony so much! I know that Jesus Christ has the power to perform miracles like he did in the New Testament today in our lives!!! It all comes down to if we have faith in Him.     Well I love you guys and I pray that this year will be great for all of you. And I know that if you keep the commandments and work to build your spiritual foundation on J...
